This one-day program has been designed for classroom teachers and maths curriculum leaders. It focuses on refreshing teachers’ knowledge and providing interesting practical examples of current approaches to teaching and learning primary school mathematics. The day will be conducted as a series of workshops, presented by experienced and inspiring mathematics educators. The program will: Examine current effective mathematics teaching and learning practices. Build a set of practical resources for teaching and learning mathematics with primary school students. Model effective practice. Re-examine mathematical content knowledge through topics that are "tricky" to teach and learn (for example, algebra). Give participants choice of a number of workshops during the day. Provide participants with a Monash Certificate of Course Completion.
