Tutor Comment

I enjoy working with students of all backgrounds and abilities. Some of my most gratifying experiences in tutoring have been to help students improve their writing. I have had tremendous success helping students in English, history, Latin, and French. I have helped students develop the writing skills to successfully research and write term papers, formulate a thesis, and learn to self-edit their own writing. I have helped C students become A students and failing students to pass with a C+ or B-. I have assisted students who are struggling and solid students who need the extra help to excel.



I have a PhD in history, and I can help students in any of the humanities, including English literature and English composition. As a former college professor, I aim to get students writing at the college level while being aware of their intellectual development as adolescents. As someone who has worked with secondary school students as a teacher, administrator, and tutor, I understand the learning needs of a broad age spectrum and alternative learning styles. I have tutored and taught online.



With my background, I can guide a student through the application process and essay writing to attend an American or British university. I can also help students with research and writing skills that will help them really sparkle in their application.



I have changed my career into horticulture, and currently do my own research and writing in horticulture and historic gardens. I am happy to share my skills and knowledge here as well.
